Three Helpful Tips for Admin Professionals

Administrative Professionals are “efficient individuals who help an organization function at its best,” according to Zip Recruiter.

Today, in celebration of Admin Professionals Day (April 27), our amazing Administrative Assistant/Apprentice Catherine shares three things she has learned since she started at MVW Communications:

1. Ask clarifying questions

A lot of information is sent out about different projects. Asking clarifying questions helps me focus on what is essential for the goal of the project, the expectations of completing the project, and when the deadline is. Receiving a new assignment can be overwhelming, but once I knew that I could ask for details preparing to get started was easier. Asking questions can help you understand what you need to do and how to do it successfully.

2. Pay attention to details

It can be easy to overlook details, but writing things down helps make everything more manageable. I have a planner that I use for remembering deadlines and projects, and I use reminders such as: calendar alerts, Reminder App from apple, and Trello to help remind me what tasks need to get done. Go back to an email, and double-check the details in it to make sure you’ve taken care of each directive.

3. Don’t be afraid!

Mistakes happen, and we are all human. Don't be scared to ask questions. Asking questions helps us to gain some sense of understanding and direction. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Asking for help is more than acceptable. That communicates your needs while also ensuring the task gets completed. Don't be afraid to write down deadlines. It is smart to write down deadlines so you don't miss them. Writing down a deadline can help you remember it!.
